Discover the Outback this April at the Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival…

The Julia Creek Dirt & Dust Festival will celebrate 21 years in 2015

If it’s an outback adventure you are seeking, then the Julia Creek Dirt & Dust Festival is a must do on your event calendar!

From modest beginnings, today’s event brings together people from all walks of life – people from Queensland, Australia and overseas. Julia Creek, based in McKinlay Shire, is proud to host what is fast becoming Queensland’s “Must go-to” event. Each year the Committee aims to reproduce the highlights of the previous years and add new attractions to continually showcase the town, its people and the true Aussie outback.

Building on the success of previous years, the Festival is quickly becoming more than bulls, bikes and butts. Situated in the centre of the adventurous Overlander’s Way, the Julia Creek Dirt & Dust Festival provides the focal

point in the magnificent month of April for our many visitors who gather and celebrate, before heading out to explore or work in our glorious outback.

The Julia Creek Dirt & Dust Festival now offers visitors three jam-packed days of fun and entertainment. Experience real outback hospitality when the tiny North West Queensland outback town of Julia Creek swells from 400 people to 3,000 in one weekend! See the gutsy outback triathlon teams in action, back a winner at the Artesian Express Outback Horse Races, kick on til late with nightly outdoor concerts, or check out the spectacular Dirt n Dust Bullride, sanctioned by PBR.

Events for everyone!

Compete in one of Australia’s toughest triathlons.
Julia Creek plays host to the Dirt n Dust Tri. The dirt, the dust, the heat, the flies… will you survive?

Enjoy the nightly live concerts and entertainment held at Dirt n Dust Central featuring the very best in home-grown Aussie talent.
Stay tuned for artist announcements!

PBR Bullride

There are no time outs or towels to throw in – once the riders are on the back of the toughest bulls, there’s nothing to do but hold on for eight desperate seconds.

Horse Races

The BHP Billiton Artesian Express ain’t no city race meet! Horses fly by in a cloud of dust and the fashion ranges from classic racewear to denim and akubras.

Red Claw Luncheon

The exclusive Red Claw Luncheon is back again this Horse Racing season – Punters can dine on locally- farmed redclaw and some of the best beef from the industry! Indulge your senses this April 18, 2015.

novelty Events

Dirt n Dust hosts novelty events where, contrary to the Triathlon, competitors require a tough stomach rather than a tough spirit to get through events like cow pat throwing and fly swatting.

bog Snorkeling

The infamous Bog Snorkeling will be back again in 2015.. test your abilities in the championships where no conventional style swimming strokes are allowed and who knows what could be in the bog pit!

Australia’s Best Butt

Australia’s Best Butt Competition – where guys and girls alike pull on their tightest jeans, perk their cheeks up, shake their booty  to the beat and vie for the crowd’s approval of their behind.
