The Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival is once again bringing the best of the Outback to travellers from far and wide over it's jam-packed three day weekend, and getting there is half the fun!
Between horse races, bullrides, novelty events and triathlons there is something for everyone at the Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival - including drivers and 4WD enthusiasts. In 2019 the Festival has brought back to life Pit Stop to the Creek, a campaign aimed at families, adventurers and the 4WD market.
Julia Creek’s rural location means that the majority of our ‘Dirt n Dusters’ have to travel by car to the event. One of the most popular drives taken to the event is the trek along the Overlander’s Way - the historic drive through Townsville, Hughenden, Richmond, Julia Creek, Cloncurry, Mt Isa and beyond.
The Pit Stop to the Creek campaign is aimed at having a fun, safe and adventure-filled drive through the heart of the Outback, starting in the coastal city of Townsville.
From there, our campaign lays out a road map through the regional communities of this fair dinkum Aussie adventure and will help drivers navigate through the best locations in each town. Stop off for a pie at FJ Holden Cafe in Hughenden or visit the friendly dinosaurs at Kronosaurus Korner in Richmond.
So pack your kids up and head outback to engage in these rural outback communities - communities that are full of stories, places and adventures ready to explore. Communities that have done it tough but are the life blood of Australia.
Once these tired and weary travellers have finally reached their destination, the Dirt n Dust Festival lays out the welcome mat at our Pit Stop to the Creek camping area - clean, scenic and shady campgrounds with all the amenities weary travellers could hope for.
The Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival then kicks off officially on Friday 12th of April and includes, Junior and Senior Triathlons, Adventure trail runs,Artesian Express Race Day, exclusive Country Tastes Luncheon, Fashions on the Field, PBR sanctioned Bullride, novelty events and nightly concerts.
The newly launched Drive North West Queensland already has 2 self drive itineraries, whose routes travel the Overlander’s Way and take drivers through Julia Creek. The Dirt n Dust Festival is one of their featured events.
The 2019 Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival will be held on 12-14th April 2019. For more information, and to register, go to www.dirtndust.com
