📌📋DIRTnDUST Festival update 14/03/2020
Because most of you may have seen yesterday’s headlines ( Copy below), the President and committee have asked us to contact all competitor’s and visitors who have purchased tickets in relation to what will be happening with the Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival for those competitors and visitors who have already registered or brought tickets.
We have already fielded some communication from competitors and visitors asking will if it be cancelled or postponed. ? We are asking you to bear with us over the coming weeks to clearly put together a plan with the most up to date information so we can make an informed decision at a later stage with the community input and advice from all stakeholders.
Statement from Prime minister: On Friday 13th March - the Prime Minister has announced that from Monday, March 16, 2020, the Federal Government will advise against organised, non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people. This advice applies across all states and territories in Australia.
Some immediate Updates:
· Our ( Madmaggies) team will be going to Julia Creek THIS Wednesday or Thursday to discuss where to from here, based on the new info that will come out on Monday or Tuesday from the Government. From here we will be discussing how and when refunds will take place.
· We have already been notified by our Major Stakeholder ( TEQ) Tourism and Events Queensland and they have said - TEQ is committed to supporting our tourism and events industry during these difficult and unpredictable times.
· We have had a discussion with CEO and Mayor of McKinlay Shire Council- who have all offered support where needed.
