Horse Races

From modest beginnings, today’s event brings together people from all walks of life – people from Queensland, Australia and overseas.

The Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival join forces with the Julia Creek Turf Club to present the Artesian Express Race Day.

It is a fantastic day of country racing for visitors to the region, who can rub shoulders with locals and visitors alike. Horses from all around the North West will be competing at one of the richest race meetings in North West Queensland.

The race day includes the exclusive "Trackside Tastes" which is cocktail-style luncheon which the Julia Creek Turf club in 2020 has now taken over the ownership reins to provide a unique food event.  Fashions on the Field and roving children's entertainment plus good old fashioned novelty games entertainment for the kids and big kids alike make this an outback race meet that you don't want to miss.

Gates open at midday and the first race is at 12:30 pm on a five-race card.

Each year we say it because each year we prove it - bush racing is alive and doing stronger than ever!

Fashions on the Field is a big part of the Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Race Day! The quality of fashions we continue to see each year during this event are simply stunning, they wouldn’t be out of place at Flemington or Randwick! But don’t be scared, there will be others that are there exhausted from the Triathlon who have only just managed to pull on clean clothes. Julia Creek is the sort of town where nothing is out of place…
